Spirit of Education Award

The SELPA is soliciting nominations for the 2021-2022 Spirit of Education award. If you believe you have an exemplary special educational program or class that supports special needs students, share your success with others by taking a moment to nominate the program for the annual Sonoma County SELPA Spirit of Education Award. It could be a program in your district this year, but only if the SELPA receives a completed Spirit of Education Award Application no later than Friday, April 29, 2022 (see the resource box for a link to the application).

Anyone may nominate a program or class that they believe meets the criteria stated on the application. However, a program administrator or a teacher/specialist participating in the program or class must complete and return the application to the SELPA prior to the April 29, 2022 deadline.

The first step in locating this year's deserving program rests in your hands. We need your help in promoting nominations for this award and getting the attached Spirit of Education Award Application to the nominated program/class staff. Some approaches that have been utilized in the past are:

  1. Including a description of the Award in your district/school newsletter and information on how to obtain an application.
  2. Email all district special education staff with a copy of the application (don't forget SLP's, OT's and other related service providers!)
  3. Provide copies of the application for the parents at your school and place a handful of applications on the front desk at the school's Office.
  4. Distribute the application to PTA members and parents of student's in your special education programs.

Thank you in advance for helping us to support excellent educational programs. I know this is a busy time of year, but this is an opportunity to recognize and celebrate your excellent, model programs, staff, and students. If you have any questions please contact me by phone at (707) 524-2802 or email me at slanger@sonomaselpa.org.

Thank you for all you do!
